손자의 파나마 여행 [1]

 

 

지난 8월12일에 며느리와 손자가 한국에 왔다.

손자는 키도 많이 자랐고 이제 4학년이어서 내년 5학년이 끝나면 중학생이 된다고 한다. 의젓하기 그지없다.

 

귀국하기 전에 뉴욕의 한인교회 신도들과 파나마에 다녀왔다고 한다. 일종의 봉사활동인 것 같다. 한국에 돌아오는 비행기 안에서 썼다는 파나마 여행기가 정말 대견스럽다. 큰 발전이 아닐 수 없다. 영어가 정말 어려운데 너무 잘 적응하고 있다고 한다. 학교 성적도 우수하다고 하니 보람이 있는 것 같다.

Hi, my name is Nau Hong and I was chosen to be part of this year’s 2024 Panamá mission trip with my mom last When I figured out that I was chosen I was really excited to go. Fast forward to send off, after it started Josiah Yi had shared his testimony to us. One of the key things that caught my attention was that Jo had fasted his phone. That inspired me so I had fasted my tv time for the last week before we went to Panamá. On Saturday we went to Panamá. When we landed Missionary Stephen Jr. came to pick us up. On the first day, of Panamá we went El Faro church for Church service and when we went there we met Missionary Stephen’s whole family: Mrs. Kendra, Noah, Ezra, and Esther.After service, we had fellowship time. At the end of the day I realized how cool it was that we worshipped the same God but in a different language. On the second day, of Panamá we did manual labor for the Abraham project by raking leaves, picking up chunks of wood, and clearing the land. After helping we went to Price Mart( aka. Costco in Panamá). At the end of the day, I felt really happy because our team was the first team to help the Abraham project start. On the third day, we went to Pastor Toby’s ( head Pastor of El Faro Church) to make food bentos and goodie bags. When we finished, we got on the van and went to hand out the items, at one of our last stops one person gave us a Orange Parakeet because if it stayed their it would be caught and killed by cats,so we brung it to Pastor Toby. At end I felt blessed to have things back at home because the people I met who we passed food to didn’t have the things I did back in the U.S. The next day we woke up at 5 am to leave for Newark, but our flight got canceled because of the hurricane in N.J.In result, we rebooked and got a connecting flight at 10pm. Since we had a lot of time left we went to the Panamá City shore, the mall for, and the Panamá Canal to see a documentary about the Canal. After all that we got on the plane and went Washington DC to connect to EWR, but unfortunately all of the team except Mr. James, Abigail, Deacon Insang, mom and I got our luggage. By the time everybody got their luggage we missed our flight; We rebooked again and drove to DCA(another airport in Washington D.C)to get on the plane. After we landed we were in New Jersey. I was glad and sad to be back.
